Webroot is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer for our SaaS QA team.  The SQE will perform complex testing tasks requiring planning, scheduling and testing to assure that developed products meet design specifications and are within total quality management limits and standards.  This SQE will contribute in Linux/Unix based edge device and SaaS product testing including functional testing, some programming/scripting, setup and configuration of lab environment, performance profiling and systems tuning.  This position requires communication with product developers and technical support specialists on product issues, workarounds, and defect resolutions.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure software releases meet Quality Assurance specifications with regard to expected features, functionality and quality, by implementation of a test plan, and through comparison of the end product with respect to the finalized requirements documents, product descriptions, and technical design specifications.
  • Provide necessary feedback to software developers and designers to eliminate defects within the product as early in the development process as possible.
  • Participate in all phases of the project, from review of requirements and design to final system testing and launch
  • Develop test cases/harnesses and test products to meet assigned requirements
  • Construct/maintain automated testing framework and other testing tools to perform performance/stress and load testing suites
  • Render detailed defect descriptions and support materials into the defect tracking system
  • Interact with Development team to ensure a comprehensive engineering documents and test strategy
  • Documentation reviews for Technical Publications deliverables
  • Operate primarily in a Linux environment.
  • Assist with setup and maintenance of QA Lab networking environment as required for test execution.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 7+ years experience in Quality Assurance, including:
    • In depth knowledge of QA test methodologies and strategies
    • Ability to demonstrate a systematic approach for identifying and rendering complex test cases
    • Proficiency with root cause analysis
    • Expert understanding of the SDLC (e.g. Agile)
    • Experience in rendering and reviewing metrics for assessing readiness of product release
    • Performance monitoring and analysis
    • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
  • 2+ years working with Email protocols (i.e. POP, IMAP, SMTP) and mail clients like Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird etc. and mail servers like Qmail, Microsoft Exchange Server etc.
  • 2+ years experience in creating test suite for API’s (HTTP based required).
  • 5+ years proven work experience with testing, troubleshooting and debugging complex enterprise software applications
  • 4+ years experience working with Linux and/or Unix Operating Systems
  • 4+ years working with network communication protocols (i.e. HTTP, FTP, TCP/IP, SSL)
  • 2+ years experience testing highly available and high performance/throughput systems
  • PHP scripting experience a plus
  • Previous programming or white box testing experience a plus
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment a plus
  • Security industry experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Technology, equivalent industry experience is acceptable
