Boulder, CO., November 06, 2006
Webroot has a history of attracting the most well-respected and talented professionals in the security industry. We are pleased to have such an opportunity today and are announcing that Peter Watkins, a current member of the Webroot Board of Directors and former president and COO of Network Associates (now McAfee) and, until recently, CEO of Elemental Security, has agreed to succeed David Moll as CEO of Webroot, effective January 1, 2007. David will remain as a member of the Board of Directors.
Essentially, Peter and David are swapping roles. Webroot will continue to leverage their valuable skill-sets, and gain from both their talents. This benefit was critical to the Board as it considered David Moll's initial recommendation to make this transition.
Peter's experience with four security software companies and his leadership of high-growth software businesses with multiple product lines makes him the ideal candidate to accelerate Webroot's move into its next phase of growth. While at Network Associates, he was instrumental in that company's growth from $40 million in revenue to an annual run-rate of over $1 billion. In his career, Peter has held a range of operating roles in sales, marketing and development. His experience within both private and public companies and his track record of growing companies through acquisition and market and product development, represent the perfect mix for the future of Webroot.
The Board joins all the employees of Webroot in welcoming Peter Watkins to his new role. We would also like to thank David Moll for his incredible leadership. David joined a company with10 employees and a good idea. Today, Webroot has a market leading product, over 300 dedicated and experienced employees, and is in the best financial shape of its history. This success and growth have come under David Moll's leadership. The Board wants to thank David for these achievements while maintaining high expectations for his continued contributions as we accelerate through our next phase of growth.
