Research published in Webroot's comprehensive Q2 2005 spyware report to be presented in live online training open to the public

Boulder, CO, October 03, 2005

Webroot Software, Inc., the leading provider of anti-spyware software and other security technologies for the enterprise and consumers, today announced an upcoming online training that will detail the corporate findings of the company's second quarterly State of Spyware report. The free online training is scheduled for this Wednesday, October 5th at 11:00 am MDT. Those interested in attending may register online by going to: http://www.webroot.com/enterprise/downloads/thankyou.html.

As the only comprehensive report on spyware, the Webroot State of Spyware report is an in-depth review and analysis of the impact of spyware, adware and unwanted software on consumers and enterprises. The upcoming online training will emphasize enterprise report data collected from the second quarter of this year including infection rates, geographical origins, top threats, legislation and recent incidents associated with spyware.

“The first State of Spyware report issued in May armed businesses and consumers with the information needed to take a more proactive stance against spyware, but the battle has only just begun,” said Richard Stiennon, vice president of threat research at Webroot and online training co-moderator. “This latest online training will provide market data from our second State of Spyware report revealing how spyware developers have redoubled their efforts to create and deploy new tactics and technology to speed the proliferation of spyware.”

During the online training, Stiennon along with Jeff Hughes, director or product marketing, will present concise data showing the continued growth of the spyware industry through expanded distribution channels and increased sophistication of new spyware programs. They will also highlight specific corporate spyware incidents as well as an alarming rise in the amount of spyware on corporate machines - a 19% increase during the last quarter alone. Online Training attendees will be allowed to submit questions online during the session.

Webroot's State of Spyware report is released on a quarterly basis and is available in its entirety at www.webroot.com/StateofSpyware.
