Webroot Keeps Carparts Running Smoothly

Carparts Distribution Center is a wholesale supplier of auto parts in the New England area. It has been a family run business since 1976 with headquarters in Plaistow, NH. IT Manager, Dawn Marino, is charged with finding the best security software for spam protection, email archiving and overall small business internet security for Carparts. With so many solution providers to choose from, Carparts selected Webroot for email security, web security and email archiving.

THE PROBLEM

Carparts had a spam problem—they were using another vendor for email security but it was not doing an effective job of spam protection. The business was also concerned with productivity as employees were spending many hours on inappropriate websites which was not only causing problems in the office but was also bringing in malware infections. Simply put—online gaming, Facebook and MySpace were wasting employees’ time. The HR and Legal departments were also concerned that there was no Internet Use Policy in place.

Marino needed to find a solution to block websites and began her research, “I talked to many other companies to find out what they recommended. I looked around and decided to contact Webroot. Once I saw the demo, I was immediately impressed with both the spam protection and the web filtering. Plus, the price was right!”

After learning more about the Webroot offerings, Marino also decided on SaaS email archiving in order to simply email management and reduce storage costs.

THE SOLUTION

Marino implemented Webroot Email Security, Webroot Web Security and Webroot Email Archiving in early 2010. With help from Legal and HR, Carparts now also has an Internet Use Policy in effect. “We wanted to be with one vendor and now we can manage all of our security in one place. The rollout was a breeze and we are confident now that we are protected from malware and spam.”

The reporting feature is also a popular piece of functionality with senior management, “We can see what sites are being hit the most and we can monitor what actions employees take after being ‘coached’. Notifications are set up so we can see if anyone is crossing the line, and if they do, we simply inform them that they are in breach of the policy. The best part of all is—Facebook is blocked 100% of the time!”

THE BENEFITS

Marino and her senior management team are unanimously pleased with their new robust SaaS business Internet security. Since installation, business is moving faster, costs are down and productivity is up. Marino explains, “With Webroot we have saved costs, improved bandwidth usage and increased productivity.
