Boulder, Co., December 11, 2006
Webroot Software, Inc., the leading provider of anti-spyware software for consumer, enterprise and SME markets, today announced the availability of a new SME product through its global distributor, Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), as well as its Channel Edge partners. Webroot® SME Security is an Internet-based threat solution that combines best-of-breed anti-virus technology from Sophos® with the award-winning anti-spyware protection of Webroot® Spy Sweeper® Enterprise. Webroot SME Security is designed to protect small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) from spyware and viruses, and represents a major new source of revenue for Webroot's partners.
Webroot SME Security provides several efficiencies that alleviate installation and support expenditures for its Channel Edge partners and Ingram Micro resellers. The solution installs as a single desktop agent quickly and easily, just like Spy Sweeper® Enterprise, with no additional configuration required during setup. Webroot SME Security also provides continuous real-time protection through frequent distribution of spyware and virus definitions. New definition updates are distributed multiple times per day. In addition, Webroot SME Security has been carefully tested against other desktop security applications to ensure cooperation among products.
"Ingram Micro customers will find Webroot SME Security, with its installation simplicity and sophisticated feature set, an attractive solution for their core client base," said Jodi Honore, vice president, vendor management, software, Ingram Micro. "Small-to-medium-sized businesses are very aware of online threats to their business and productivity. The addition of Webroot SME Security to our portfolio will provide another alternative for solution providers to be able to design and implement the best security solutions for their end-user customers."
Earlier this year, Webroot found that SMEs are especially vulnerable to malicious attacks often due to their limited IT resources and lack of network security [see Webroot's "Spyware & Small Business" guide, available for download at www.webroot.com/smbfacts]. Webroot committed to work with its Channel Edge partners to deliver desktop-level protection to this market segment; SME Security is further proof of Webroot's intention to continuously deliver on its promise. Its strategic distribution agreement with Ingram Micro will also help to more quickly extend this spyware and virus protection to SMEs.
"Throughout the development of this product, our goal was to deliver an efficient, easy-to-use and cost-effective solution that specifically addressed the security pain points as well as the resource limitations faced by SMEs," said C. David Moll, CEO of Webroot Software. "SME Security meets all such criteria and because of this, we believe our channel partners will reap significant financial benefits from the resale of this product."
Webroot is offering its Channel Edge partners SME Security training via its channel-specific Webinar Series. Webroot is also providing pre-sales and engineering support, a technical support hotline, access to sales and marketing materials, and sales tools via the Channel Edge Partner Portal.
