Webroot Software, Inc., the leading provider of anti-spyware software and other security technologies for the enterprise and consumers, today announced the appointment of Joshua Pace to the position of chief financial officer (CFO). Michael Irwin, who has served as CFO of Webroot since September 2004, will assume the role of chief operating officer (COO).
The addition of Pace comes as Webroot closed out the most successful quarter in the company's history on December 31. As CFO, Pace will oversee Webroot's financial growth as the company continues to expand both domestically and internationally, and further demonstrates its superior technology resources and product performance in 2006.
"As we move forward in 2006, we are expanding our operations both globally and domestically to continue our strong growth pattern," said David Moll, CEO of Webroot. "Joshua has a strong track record of helping to achieve and effectively manage global financial growth for major corporations and his experience will help to ensure we continue to expand our business aggressively and intelligently."
Prior to joining Webroot, Pace served as senior vice president and CFO of Openwave Systems (NASDAQ: OPWV) where he led the finance organization that spanned operations in over twenty countries. He also served as CFO of M2 Networx, a provider of desktop collaboration services, and he was the vice president of financial planning & analysis for Covad Communications.
"Webroot has hit a very exciting stage in the corporate lifecycle and is well positioned for increasing financial success on a global scale," said Pace. "The company is the technology leader in a rapidly expanding global market, and as CFO I plan to leverage Webroot's success to increase the trajectory of financial performance."
Prior to Covad, Pace spent eight years with US WEST Communications. Before his departure, he served as executive director of finance for the Designed Services unit that delivered telephony and data products to 14 states and 16 million users. He began his career at Deloitte & Touche as a senior auditor. Pace earned his B.S. degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina and his MBA in international finance from the University of Colorado.
As part of Webroot's executive expansion, Irwin will move from CFO to the role of COO. In this new position, Irwin will be responsible for overseeing all internal operations of Webroot, in addition to strategically driving forward the overall business and company objectives.
"Mike's management and leadership abilities have strongly aided Webroot in achieving record financial success and solidifying the company's top market position," said Moll. "As we move into 2006, Mike will be leading our operational efforts to expand the company's global reach and technology excellence."
Prior to joining Webroot, Irwin served as CFO of Brightmail, which was acquired by Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC). At Brightmail, Irwin engineered the IPO effort which ultimately resulted in the Symantec acquisition. Prior to Brightmail, Irwin served as vice president of B2SB Technologies Corp. (previously known as Smartage.com Corporation), a provider of software and services to small businesses, where he guided capitalization efforts that raised $22 million in private equity. He also spent nearly eight years in the management consulting and M&A groups at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Irwin earned a B.S. degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
