Boulder, CO – December 1, 2008

Webroot, a leading security provider for the consumer, enterprise and SMB markets, today announced the appointment of Pierre-Michel (Mike) Kronenberg as chief technology officer of the Webroot Desktop Security Business Unit. Kronenberg brings more than a decade of experience in developing innovative security software solutions and will play an integral role in leading the Webroot desktop engineering and threat research teams to drive innovation for its security solutions.

As the threat landscape becomes increasingly complex, Webroot will continue to innovate to deliver the most comprehensive protection available, said Peter Watkins, CEO, Webroot. Mike's experience in threat detection technology and personal computing will ensure that we continue to offer our customers the most advanced and comprehensive security solutions for protecting their computers from Internet threats.

Most recently, Kronenberg served as the chief technology officer for PC Tools, Inc. where he led the integration of behavior based threat detection technology in PC Tools' security solutions. Proprietary behavior-based threat detection technology developed by Kronenberg received multiple awards including the Editors' Choice Award from PC Magazine in 2007 and 2008. He joined PC Tools following its 2007 acquisition of Novatix Corporation, a private company that Kronenberg founded and managed.

In addition to founding Novatix Corporation, Kronenberg successfully founded and operated several additional organizations including SendPhotos, Inc., a provider of ground-breaking digital picture sharing solutions, and Mijenix Corporation, a provider of personal computing software solutions including Internet privacy and security applications. Kronenberg helped Mijenix build a retail presence in the U.S. and abroad to more than 10,000 stores, including those of Wal-Mart, Target, Staples, Office Depot, CompUSA and BestBuy. When Mijenix was acquired by Ontrack Data International, Kronenberg continued working to establish the company as a world leader in data recovery, leading to its acquisition by Kroll in 2002.

Kronenberg holds a PhD and a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin and a second master's degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland.
