David Moll, CEO of Webroot, Named Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young

Head of Leading Anti-spyware Company Honored For Impressive Growth and Dedication to Consumer Awareness and Protection

Boulder, CO – July 6, 2005

C. David Moll, CEO of Webroot Software, the leading provider of anti-spyware software and other security technologies for consumer and enterprise markets, was recently honored by Ernst & Young with the Entrepreneur of the Year award in the emerging growth category. Ernst & Young, a global leader in professional services, recognized Moll for his role in building Webroot into a leader in the security software business, as well as architecting one of the top success stories in the Rocky Mountain region.

"This award is really honoring the 275 employees at Webroot who have built our company into a leader; I am privileged to receive their trust everyday and this award is a reflection of the collective effort of the company," said Moll. "I am equally proud that now we are able to advance to the national selection process and share the Webroot story with an even broader audience."

Moll was selected by an independent panel of judges comprised of local business, academic and community leaders and announced at a black tie awards gala on June 23, 2005 at the Denver Performing Arts Center.

Moll became CEO of Webroot in 2002 and has since served as a leading advocate for personal privacy and protection on the Internet, leading the first national educational and marketing effort on the threat of spyware. During his tenure at Webroot, the company has experienced astronomic growth at a managed pace, quadrupling in size of employees and revenue in three years. He stewarded the company into major retail sales channels, developed significant OEM relationships, created the company's first enterprise division and engineered the company's first round of external funding, a $108 million investment from three major Silicon Valley-based venture capital firms in February 2005.

"Entrepreneur Of The Year award winners embrace the entrepreneurial spirit and determination needed to achieve success," said Mark Siegel, Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Program Director for the Rocky Mountain Region. "Ernst & Young is proud to recognize and support these leaders and their companies."

Moll will be eligible for consideration for the Entrepreneur of the Year 2005 national program. Winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Spring, Calif. on November 19, 2005.

A three-time recipient of PC Magazine's Editors' Choice Award, Webroot Spy Sweeper has an installed base of more than six million users and is powered by Phileas, Webroot's automated spyware research system designed specifically to root out and identify spyware anywhere on the web. Webroot has also received great acclaim for its corporate anti-spyware counterpart, Webroot Spy Sweeper Enterprise, which enables administrators to centrally manage security threats across enterprises of any size and has sold more than 1.75 million licenses of its solution since its launch in June 2004.
