Boulder, CO – May 9, 2006
Webroot Software, Inc., the leading provider of anti-spyware software for the enterprise, SMBs and consumers, will host a webinar to present the latest spyware data now available in Webroot's most recent quarterly State of Spyware report, which was released today. The webinar will be held on Thursday, May 11 at 11:00 a.m. MST.
Webroot's Gerhard Eschelbeck, CTO & senior vice president of engineering, and Jeff Hughes, director of product marketing, will present the results of Webroot's latest industry findings as well as information on how businesses can proactively prevent revenue loss and data breaches. Eschelbeck and Hughes will offer insight on how consumers and organizations can protect themselves from the growing risks of spyware, in addition to providing expert advice on the following topics:
- Top spyware threats
- Enterprise spyware infection rates
- Small businesses vulnerability to spyware attacks
- The latest techniques used by spyware hackers, including phishing Trojans
According to this edition of Webroot's State of Spyware report, a rise in adware combined with a significant increase in the most malicious types of Trojans and system monitors resulted in the highest consumer infections rates since the first quarter of 2005. The report also reveals that more than 50 percent of small businesses experienced a spyware attack during the first quarter of 2006.
Issued quarterly, the State of Spyware report is an in-depth review and analysis of the impact of spyware, adware and unwanted software on consumers and enterprises. The foundation for much of the analysis and trends reporting comes from online research culled by Phileas, Webroot's automated spyware research system and Webroot's corporate Spy Audit and consumer spy scanning tool, which invite both consumers and enterprises to scan specific PCs and determine spyware infection levels.
