Webroot Recognized By Computerworld As A 2011 Honors Laureate

Broomfield, CO, – May 17, 2011

IDG’s Computerworld Honors Program has named Webroot, the first Internet security service company, a Laureate in its 2011 awards program. Computerworld annually honors companies demonstrating visionary applications of information technology promoting positive social, economic and educational change.

Webroot was selected from more than 1,000 nominations for its service to the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS), a nonprofit organization that provides a 24-hour health lifeline for people living, working or traveling in rural and remote areas of Western Australia and the Indian Ocean territories. Fast and reliable Internet access is vital to the 300 employees separated by vast distances who use it to develop flight plans, locate air strips, assign staff members and identify medical facilities where patients can get appropriate treatment.

Monitoring and managing Internet security for 175 desktop computers and 75 laptop computers used by shift workers both in the field and on RFDS bases was a challenge for the tightly resourced organization. For a solution, RFDS looked to Webroot, implementing its Webroot® Web Security Service to secure the RFDS network as well as its roaming medical staff. With this service in place, RFDS is able to focus on getting medical assistance to its patients as quickly as possible while Webroot blocks malware attacks and ensures reliable, secure 24x7 Internet access.

John Amato, Publisher, Computerworld said, "The number and quality of nominations this year were very inspiring and demonstrate how valuable IT is to community change. Computerworld is very proud to name the 2011 class of Laureates and showcase their initiatives benefiting society through innovative uses of IT."

Webroot was the sole Internet security company to be recognized among the 22 companies included in the "Safety & Security" category. Winners in each category will be announced at the Annual Laureates Medal Ceremony & Gala Awards on June 20, 2011 at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C.
