Webroot, the first Internet security service company, today announced the appointment of Michelle Marian as senior vice president of global online business. An executive with more than 20 years of marketing and sales experience, Marian will lead Webroot’s online operations to drive revenue growth in digital sales among consumers and businesses.
"Webroot is at a pivotal point in our history as we establish ourselves as the leader in delivering security as a service," said Dick Williams, chief executive officer, Webroot. "Over the past year, we’ve grown our business aggressively through investments in development, acquisitions and building a world-class support organization. Michelle will be a great asset to Webroot as we grow our global online business equally as aggressively."
Marian brings to Webroot more than 12 years of interactive marketing experience, including the development of e-commerce and online marketing initiatives for leading brands such as Safeway, AOL, AT&T Broadband and Qwest Communications. Most recently, her role as vice president of interactive marketing at Safeway increased the company’s profitability and revenue growth through the successful execution of integrated online and offline marketing programs, customer acquisition and retention campaigns, and social media and mobile strategies.
Prior to Safeway, Marian was vice president of online marketing at AOL, responsible for building the Netscape ISP online sales channel and AOL’s subscriber upsell and retention programs. Marian also implemented a portfolio sales approach that drove significant incremental operating income and increased product penetration. Previously Marian developed the online sales presence and channels for the cable companies AT&T Broadband and Adelphia.
Marian also held marketing management roles with Global One, KPMG Peat Marwick and NCR. She began her career in advertising sales and new media at The Washington Post.
Marian received a Bachelor of Science in International Business and Marketing from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Masters of International Business Studies from the University of South Carolina at Columbia.
