Screaming for Help

A new way to locate your lost or stolen phone

Whether abandoned on the bus or in the abyss of your couch cushions, misplacing your phone can be enough to make you scream. But thanks to device locating "scream" features now available through various mobile security providers, your phone can actually scream for help and reunite you with your lost digital limb.

Scream tones are one of a handful of handy locating services available through various mobile security providers. By sending a command to your lost device, you can blast a loud siren or scream sound to help you locate the device, or even scare off a thief. It's like high-tech Marco Polo, with a practical end.

If you have Webroot® Secure Anywhere™ Complete or Webroot® Secure Anywhere™ Internet Security Plus, Lost Device Protection is a mobile security feature already included with your product. In addition to the scream feature, there's also a locate command, which locks your phone and shows you its current location via Google Maps.

To use Lost Device Protection, make sure the feature is enabled, then send a device-locating command from another phone or from the Webroot Mobile Security website. (You can find details on this step here.)

Don't have a Webroot product with Lost Device Protection? No sweat. You can still access locating features through Webroot's free mobile and tablet security app for your Android devices. But don't wait until your phone goes missing again—download a device-detecting security app now and save yourself a screaming headache later.
