Webroot Continues Strong Growth in Fiscal First Quarter

BROOMFIELD, CO. - November 17, 2016

Webroot, the market leader in next-generation endpoint security and cloud-based collective threat intelligence, today announced double-digit year-over-year bookings growth in its first fiscal quarter ending September 30, 2016. The company’s business segment bookings grew at 35 percent year-over-year for the quarter, and the consumer segment at 7 percent. Following a record fiscal year 2016, the company’s momentum continues to build thanks to widespread adoption of Webroot cybersecurity solutions by managed service providers (MSPs), continued demand from partners to embed Webroot threat intelligence in their solutions, and consumer product sales that far outstrip the overall consumer security market.

Webroot’s first fiscal quarter was also marked by its acquisition of CyberFlow Analytics, an innovator in the field of network behavioral analytics. The addition of CyberFlow’s FlowScape solution extends Webroot’s leadership in advanced machine learning-based cybersecurity to the network layer, and enhances the company’s ability to address the explosion of internet-connected devices.

"Webroot’s growth momentum shows how much customers value our unmatched protection against today’s most dangerous threats," said Dick Williams, Webroot CEO. "With our CyberFlow acquisition, we are adding to the predictive power of our solutions across both endpoints and the network layer to secure over 138,000 businesses and millions of consumers."

Webroot’s Popularity with MSPs Marks another Banner Quarter

The rapid adoption of Webroot SecureAnywhere® Business Endpoint Protection continued with more than 700 new service providers added in Q1, bringing the total number of service providers to 6900. MSP’s find Webroot SecureAnywhere to be the ideal endpoint protection solution for their customers because of its outstanding efficacy against advanced malware and phishing attacks, its extraordinarily rapid deployment, and its powerful, fully cloud-based management.

In late September, the company announced a partnership with Atera, a developer of a cloud-based all-in-one remote monitoring and management (RMM), professional services automation (PSA) and remote access platform for MSPs. Atera’s MSPs will benefit from the smooth integration of Atera’s software solution and Webroot’s next-generation endpoint security to achieve standardization across all the networks they manage.

CyberInt Partnership Leverages Threat Intelligence Capabilities

In July, Webroot announced a partnership with targeted cyber threat intelligence vendor CyberInt, which joins the ranks of companies embedding Webroot technology into their solutions such as Citrix, A10 Networks, and Palo Alto Networks. Under the terms of the agreement, CyberInt will integrate Webroot BrightCloud® Threat Intelligence Services into its platform, providing additional predictive intelligence on URLs, IPs, files, and mobile apps for better protection from advanced cyberattacks. This combination gives security administrators greater visibility into different types of cyber threats, as well as historical, geolocation, and other data to help make better informed security decisions.

Consumer Cybersecurity Racks Up Another Robust Performance

Webroot’s consumer segment once again outperformed the market in the first quarter, with 7% year over year growth, 3 times faster than the industry as a whole. Gartner estimated the consumer security segment will grow at 2.5% in 2016.

Thought Leadership

In August, CRN named Webroot CEO Dick Williams to its 2016 list of the Top 100 Executives, an annual list recognizing technology industry leaders who have helped shape today’s IT channel.

Webroot also followed up its 2016 annual Threat Brief with the fall installment of its Quarterly Threat Trends report. The report found users are over 20 percent less likely to encounter malware and other undesirable executable files than in 2015, but that malware attacks are more sophisticated and short-lived than ever before.
