Webroot Drives Twelfth Consecutive Quarter of Double-Digit Business Growth in Q2 2017

Company Now Protects over 160,000 Businesses Worldwide

BROOMFIELD, Colo. - March 15, 2017

Webroot, the market leader in next-generation endpoint security, network security, and threat intelligence driven by machine learning, today announced double-digit year-over-year bookings growth in its second fiscal quarter ending on December 31, 2016. The company’s business segment bookings grew by 46 percent for the quarter, and the consumer segment by 9 percent.

Webroot’s solutions continue to grow in popularity with managed service providers (MSPs). During the first half of FY 2017, Webroot added over 1,900 MSPs, compared to 2,000 added in all of FY 2016. Today, Webroot has more than 8,000 MSP customers worldwide securing over 160,000 businesses worldwide.

Webroot focused on extending new capabilities for MSPs in the second fiscal quarter with the release of the Unity API (Unity). MSP administrators can use Unity to securely integrate services and data sets to Webroot SecureAnywhere® Business Endpoint Protection. Unity enables them to easily extract data, as well as tailor, integrate, and automate their endpoint offerings for better productivity; improved financial control; customized alerting and reporting; and increased profitability.

“Our double-digit growth in the business segment is based on our unique ability to offer cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions that prevent, protect and remediate against threats while being easy to deploy and manage,” said Webroot CEO Dick Williams. “With our cloud-based approach, MSPs can deploy Webroot without any on-premise infrastructure, manage from a central location and receive real-time prevention, protection, remediation, alerting, and reporting. We solve the security headaches of MSPs, so they can focus on growing their business.”

According to the company's calculations for the consumer market, Webroot grew over six times faster than Gartner's compound annual growth rate for consumer security software, worldwide which they estimate at 1.4 percent for 2015-2020 in its February 2017 Forecast Analysis: Information Security, Worldwide, 3Q16 Update (based on current dollars).

Extended Reach in the UK and Ireland with CMS and Conosco Partnerships

Webroot expanded its presence in the United Kingdom and Ireland in the second fiscal quarter with two key partnerships. Webroot added CMS Distribution, a leading specialist IT distributor in the region, to its global network of distributors. It also announced a partnership with Conosco, a leading MSP that combines IT support services with strategic consulting.

New Industry Accolades

Webroot was the only endpoint security product included in PCMag’s “Best Business Products of 2016” December feature. The publication called SecureAnywhere® Business Endpoint Protection “the best Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) endpoint protection software available to businesses today,” highlighting “outstanding client protections” and the “standout” graphical policy management.

Also in December, CRN, a brand of The Channel Company, named Webroot to its 2016 Internet of Things 50 list. The list recognizes companies whose innovative offerings are helping connect objects, computing devices, infrastructure, data storage, and data analytics to transform and improve the way we work and live. Webroot FlowScape® Analytics, for instance, sees beyond the endpoint across a variety of environments, such as cloud services, new device types (IoT), BYOD, and network infrastructures (including closed systems).

Additionally, Webroot won the gold in December in the Best in Biz Awards for Most Customer Friendly Company of the Year. This distinction underscored Webroot’s commitment to customer satisfaction and support. The company has a highly skilled and globally based technical support team that offers 24/7 support around the world. Webroot also has an active online community moderated by employees and enthusiastic customers.

Quarterly Threat Update Uncovered Increasingly Sophisticated Phishing Attacks

Webroot’s second fiscal quarter Threat Update revealed 84 percent of phishing sites exist for less than 24 hours, with an average life cycle of under 15 hours. The data shows how today’s phishing attacks have become increasingly sophisticated in order to obtain sensitive information from specific organizations and people. Webroot also found, on average, over 400,000 phishing sites were seen each month in 2016.

The figures presented in the Quarterly Threat Update are based on the latest data collected, tracked and analyzed by the Webroot Threat Intelligence Platform, the BrightCloud® Real-Time Anti-Phishing Service, and other Webroot solutions. While cybercriminals are constantly developing new methods and approaches to obtain sensitive data, cloud-based machine learning is the only way to keep up with the volume and identify modern attack methods. Webroot’s ability to analyze billions of associations across the diverse object types, combined with historical knowledge on how millions of objects have behaved over time, enables organizations to more likely and more accurately identify never-before-seen and zero-day threats the moment they emerge, anywhere in the world.
