Addition of Webroot Spy Sweeper Enterprise in NAC Program Helps Ensure the Highest Level of Enterprise Network Security Protection

BOULDER, CO - November 7, 2005

Webroot Software, Inc., the leading provider of anti-spyware software and other security technologies for consumer and enterprise markets, today announced that it has joined the Network Admission Control (NAC) program.

NAC is a set of technologies and solutions built on an industry initiative led by Cisco Systems. NAC uses the network infrastructure to enforce security policy compliance on all devices seeking to access network computing resources, thus limiting damage from emerging security threats. NAC is part of the Cisco Self-Defending Network, an initiative to increase network intelligence in order to enable the network to automatically identify, prevent, and adapt to security threats.

Webroot will integrate Spy Sweeper Enterprise with the Cisco Trust Agent allowing security control for network system end users. Through the integration with Cisco Trust Agent, Spy Sweeper Enterprise will help defend against all types of spyware, including system monitors, keyloggers, trojans and remote threads in core processes and rootkits, ensuring that computers and data are protected. This functionality will be available to Webroot customers who have NAC-enabled Cisco networking hardware in their environment.

"Cisco is pleased to have Webroot participating in this collaborative industry program," said Russell Rice, director of product marketing in the Security Technology Group at Cisco Systems, Inc. "Webroot's Spy Sweeper Enterprise enhances the NAC program, and will help provide IT organizations a strong toolset for helping to defend against a variety of threats including malicious attacks, adware, system intrusion and spyware."

Spy Sweeper Enterprise is the best-in-class anti-spyware protection for global 2000 organizations, providing IT and network security managers with a centrally managed, scalable solution that is easy to deploy and use. Spy Sweeper Enterprise offers proactive spyware protection, detection and removal capabilities powered by the industry's most advanced research methodology, along with extensive policy and provisions management features and a highly integrated architecture, making Spy Sweeper Enterprise an essential component of any CIO's security strategy.

"Cisco and Webroot share a common vision of helping to achieve end user threat protection. By combining leading security solutions and technologies, Webroot's integration into a NAC framework represents the evolution of network security from traditional one-shop security suites to collaborative solutions," said Seksom Suriyapa, Webroot's senior vice president of business development.

The growth of spyware and other malicious programs that specifically target enterprise networks continues at an aggressive rate. Current Webroot research through corporate Spy Audits has shown that malicious spyware like trojans and keystroke loggers are found on approximately 7 percent of all enterprise desktops. This poses serious compliance risk to corporate initiatives around Sarbanes-Oxley, Gramm-Leach Bliley (GLB), and HIPAA, in addition to the inherent business risk of unauthorized access to confidential company data. The rise in mobile workers further magnifies the need to offer desktop protection from spyware in order to adequately protect network end points traveling outside the corporate network and beyond the scope of internal security policies. With the NAC, Cisco customers are provided with a proven framework for achieving this level of protection.
